T-Ball???

Another Carter post because I am feeling sentimental that tomorrow I will have a FOUR year old!!  

Carter had his first t-ball practice on Friday....let's just say, we have a ways to go before he gets drafted to the major leagues!  He was a little out of sorts during practice and I think he was hungry and wasn't feeling 100%.   He did GREAT up until the time a kid that acted like he was a major league player came up to bat and hit the fire out of the ball.  Aaron decided that he better go out and assist Carter :)  Carter decided at that point, that he was tired and was ready to go home -- there was no changing his mind -- he was outta there!  Our next practice is Friday...so hopefully, he will have a better time.

Silly Carter!!!!



This cute almost 4 year old says some funny stuff!!!

  • I need some Tylenol...Why do you need Tylenol?  I'm not feeling well...I'm sorry, what's wrong?  My muscles hurt
  • I want some gum...my mouth is chewy.  I need some gum.
  • I didn't want a baby....I wanted a dog   --- he likes to say this when he is mad at Caroline :)
  • Please....I already said please.  Please can I have it?
  • Mommy, you are the best washer  
  • I didn't make the mess....myself did :)
  • Mommy, I didn't want to wash my hands because I wanted to save water
  • It's going down my side pipe, it's supposed to go down my middle pipe -- he said this when he had a big bite of banana in his mouth :)
  • Carter, dinner is ready  -- I can not eat dinner....I have work to do!!
  • I feel like I don't want to wash my hands
  • Mommy, you color - I'm colored out for the day
  • Mommy, I need some boys here so I can tackle
  • says uppercase for things that are on top -- I want the uppercase one 
  • I love her, she's my best girl
  • here's a little conversation we had with Carter one night while driving home
    • Carter - Mommy, how do babies come out of tummies?
    • Mommy - um, Daddy, how do they?  
    • Daddy - God just decides when its time
    • Mommy - yes, Daddy's right 
    • Carter - No, the tummy just cracks open and the baby comes out :)
  • Carter has started asking questions about my mom & dad lately :(  I wasn't prepared for it the other day, but I explained it the best I could.  He wanted to know if they were my mommy & daddy when I was little -- love the way his little mind thinks. 
    • C - Where are your mommy & daddy?
    • M - They are in Heaven
    • C - When can we see them, I have never seen them and I miss them and I like them
    • M - I miss them, too, buddy..but, we can see them in pictures.  They are always looking down on us from Heaven and they watch over us and keep us safe
  • Owen is so tiny....he's like a nut
  • Mommy, you are my best friend
  • that freaks me out, Mommy
  • Well, anyway...I want to watch Jepordy
  • I'm God - I make dogs & people
  • Caroline is a dude!  He said that to Caroline when she has his hat on :)

Mommy, mommy, mommy

I read an article tonight that couldn't have come at a better time...today was a challenging day for Carter & I.  He was out of sorts a little -- doing things that he knows he shouldn't do.  He was whiny and wanted to act like a baby.  He was pushing my buttons and it was hard not to get mad at him, but I was as patient as I could possibly be with an almost 4 year old :) I love Carter & Caroline more than anything in this world -- they are my life and I would not trade a minute of any day to be doing anything different.  I just have to sit back and realize that everyday isn't going to be the perfect day.  I am their Mommy and they need me, just like I need them.  I am honored that God chose me to be their mom, that He chose me to care for them and teach them and love them.  My life would be so empty if I didn't have little arms grabbing my legs when I am trying to get dinner ready saying "hold de, hold de" or when I finally have them in bed and sit down for a few minutes of mommy time and hear "Mommy, I need to tinkle" or "Mommy, can you just love me & tickle me one more time?" or "Mommy, why do we count 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10?"  I wouldn't trade any of it -- I don't get much Mommy alone time and you know what?  I am just fine with that!  There will be a day, when all I will have is free time and will have all the time in the world for haircuts, pedicures, shopping and dinners where I actually sit down and eat an entire meal without getting up to get a napkin or more milk or more applesauce.  When those days are gone, it will mean that my babies are all grown up.  I think I will sit back and cherish this time, especially the trying days and thank God for my wonderful blessings!
